The Royal Hotel Ferntree Gully was first opened in August 1889 and has been a pillar in the community ever since. The Hotel originally had 65 rooms and a large dining area seating 250 people. The Royal FTG Hotel soon became a favourite with holiday makers to the Dandenong Ranges, as well as locals in the area. These days, what once was stables out the back is now a carpark. Same concept, new century.
We’re centrally located in the heart of Ferntree Gully on Burwood Hwy just across the street from the Upper Ferntree Gully train station, and down the road from the 1000 Steps walk.
Here at the Royal Hotel, we have everything you want and expect out of your favourite local pub. Our Bistro is serving up delicious and hearty food in a warm and cozy ambiance. Our Sports Bar provides a friendly environment to enjoy a few drinks while watching the game. We have historic photos on the walls in the Bistro and throughout the hotel for you to take a step back to yesteryear. The Royal FTG Hotel has a firm history in the past, and has maintained its presence as a favourite meeting point in the present and future.
